remnants
I have always liked post-apocalyptic movies, not for the (often shallow) plot, but to see how our world is portrayed. What happens to the built space after it is no longer needed and discarded is both interesting and quite visual. The idea of how an unused structure decomposes intrigues me. Before skilled construction workers labored over details, an architect considered every wall, every corner and every inch in the space that is crumbling in front of my lens. While often looking over my shoulder, my lens records desolation as my imagination sees the space at its most vibrant and colorful time.
Photographing this abandonment makes my imagine soar. I don't see the wreckage and waste, but rather see a bustling and lively time when the structure was at its peak.
